Creamery’s location, in the southwestern Sonoma;
northwestern Marin county area, offers world-class opportunities
for outdoor activities such as cycling, kayaking, and walking.
The historic town of Valley Ford, located on Hwy 1, is
an easy .4/mile walk from the studios. Valley Ford has
a post office,
bank, market, diner, restaurants, antique store, and a
small hotel. The picturesque towns of Bodega, Freestone,
and Occidental, Bodega Bay, Sebastopol, and Tomales are
all about ten miles away. The larger cities of Santa Rosa
and Petaluma are still only a half-hour’s drive away,
and the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco can be reached
with-in an hour.
Valley Ford Creamery studio project offers a rare chance to
participate in a working artist/professional community nestled
in a gorgeous rural environment that is within easy reach of
more urban pleasures and practical necessities. This
unspoiled pocket of Sonoma county is a paradise for a
diverse mix of wildlife: deer, fox, marsh
and migratory birds, butterflies, crickets, turtles, frogs and fish– just
to name a few - as well as the resident sheep and cows grazing on the pastures
of the surrounding ranches.
